Experience

Software Engineer

Datanian Sdn. Bhd.

December 2024 – Present Malaysia
  • Eliminated recurring production OOM crashes by building a PHP↔Python interop layer (NDJSON stdin/stdout piping) that offloads CPU-intensive calculations from PHP — making heavy data exports stable under large dataset loads.
  • Designed and maintained an event-driven ingestion pipeline across 10+ named Laravel job queues, with domain-specific routing logic and demand-aware debouncing that reduced wasted dispatches by ~80–90% during high-volume ingress spikes.
  • Built a queued export pipeline with start/poll endpoints, multi-format output (PDF, CSV, XLSX), and long-job user notification triggered at a configurable threshold — replacing a synchronous export path that timed out on large datasets.
  • Architected an event-driven derived-data generation pipeline across multiple domain modules, replacing a manual workflow with a queue-driven system that handles readiness checks, uniqueness enforcement, and failure recovery — reducing manual intervention by ~80%.
  • Maintained a multi-database architecture (MongoDB for time-series, PostgreSQL for metadata and config) with cursor-based streaming to avoid memory exhaustion on large dataset queries.
  • Took full ownership of features end-to-end with minimal supervision even during tight time constraints.

Industrial Trainee

Jabatan Perkhidmatan Komputer Negeri (JPKN) Sabah

March 2024 – August 2024 Sabah, Malaysia
  • Developed frontend interfaces from Figma prototypes to production-ready code for web systems used by government agencies.
  • Contributed to delivering a web application for a government ministry as part of a structured application development team.
  • Worked within a formal software delivery process, gaining exposure to requirements handoff, team collaboration, and deployment workflows.

Affy

In Progress

Most booking platforms treat referrals as an afterthought. Affy was built around the opposite assumption — that the affiliate link *is* the product. A merchant publishes a slot, an agent shares their link, a customer books, and commission is recorded automatically. Built full-stack with MERN.

Built with a React frontend, Node.js/Express API, and MongoDB — affiliate links are generated per agent per listing, with commission recorded on booking confirmation.

ARIA

Semi-Refactored

Physical access control in most institutions means a key, a card, or a staff member at the door. ARIA replaces all three — a face recognition system that identifies registered users and triggers a GPIO relay to unlock the door, with zero manual intervention. Built on a Raspberry Pi as my Final Year Project at UMS.

FaceNet generates 512-d embeddings stored in MySQL; a Flask API serves inference at the door endpoint; a GPIO relay on Raspberry Pi handles the physical unlock signal.

Project Kumaraja (Coming Soon)

Planning

A Personal Data Pipeline for the Sabah Tech Market. "Kumaraja" (derived from the Dusun word for "work") is an end-to-end data engineering and full-stack analytics pipeline serving as a personal BI tool to aggregate, clean, and analyze tech job listings for the Sabah region. It showcases full-pipeline mastery—from web scraping, strict dbt data quality testing, and robust cloud infrastructure, to a modern Laravel dashboard.

Pipeline: Python scraper → raw PostgreSQL layer → dbt models → analytics-ready tables → Laravel dashboard. Hosted on GCP. dbt tests enforce data quality at each layer.
